    hi i just came across this forum today, and i ahve been wanting to buy a digtal camcorder for awhile now and im breakking down and going to get one, but i hardly now anything about them. what are some good brands..oh i have a budget of about 500-600 bucks, thanks for any help

    Digital??...Camcorder???

    Never heard of it! Does it take regular super-8 cartridges or is it maybe Single-8?

    What will they think of next!

    $500-600 is a tough range. Make sure that the camera has an external mic input because the sound you get from the onboard camera mics is not good. Also, you should look for manual exposure. The only camera I ccan think of in your price range is a Canon ZR series camera. If you could find a Sony TRV17 used it would be a good alternative.

    Your other choice get a Super-8 camera and shoot film.
